The Nova Scotia Junior Wind Ensemble is an organization dedicated to encouraging young musicians, both socially and musically. Our goal is to foster a greater love for wind band music and inspire a positive learning environment which students may take back to their home schools.

Slide 1

Are you going into grade 10?

Beginning in grade 10 you may audition for the NSYWE as well! Not ready to "age out" of the NSJWE? You can audition for NSJWE all through Jr. and Sr. High School or audition for both groups and see where the wind takes you!

Ken MacKay

We are very pleased to have Mr. Ken MacKay as our guest conductor for the 2018-19 season. Ken has recently retired from teaching in the public school system and work intensly with the Nova Scotia Honour Jazz. We can't wait to see what kind of magic he can work with the NSJWE students!

November 2-4 Rehearsals will be held at New Glasgow Academy!

This years rehearsal weekends are November 2-4, 2018 (New Glasgow Academy), and March 1-3, 2019 (Citadel High School).

Auditions have now closed.

Auditions have now closed for the season. Please contact katelyn@nsjwe.ca if you would like to see if there are any remaining spots in this years ensemble.

I was born with music inside me. Music was one of my parts. Like my ribs, my kidneys, my liver, my heart. Like my blood. It was a force already within me when I arrived on the scene. It was a necessity for me-like food or water. - Ray Charles
